The design for this bench draws on the work of early 20th architects Greene & Greene, widely considered to have produced some of the finest examples of American Arts and Craft style furniture. While not a reproduction piece, elements of the style are evident throughout.

Modern Leather Upholstered Bench

Drawing on both Modern and Art Deco influences,this piece utilizes strong, simple shapes and clean lines. The contrast between the leather upholstery, curly maple and ebony detailing help to define design elements of the bench. Leather seat cushions are laid up on high density foam, adhered to laminated plywood panels.

This piece was inspired by the dynamic line and strong geometric elements often apparent in my favorite early 20th century Art Deco designs. I would love to have someone ask me about building this piece using natural wood and exotic veneers.
