Custom Art Deco Display Case
Another nice project for the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro Vermont. Art Deco inspired, the clean geometry in the cherry case is enhanced with book-matched veneers, highly figured maple and a combination of vermillion and mother of pearl details. Glass doors on both sides and adjustable interior lighting effectively help to showcase curated exhibits including objects, artwork and artist journals.

Cherry and Figured Maple Nightstands
A contemporary take on a traditional side case. These pieces were originally designed as companion pieces to an antique pencil post bed. They employ traditional proportions and materials while enjoying some subtle, contemporary detailing. The curved birdseye maple drawer fronts are accented with a fine walnut bead, all set in solid cherry casework.

Art Deco-Inspired Sideboard
This custom made design is a nod to Emile Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933), French furniture designer and one of the most important figures in the Art Deco movement. Materials here are solid cherry and quarter sawn cherry veneer for casework, with curly maple for beading and foot detail. Drawers and doors are a sequenced Roble veneer. Door/ drawer pulls are turned Tagua nut (palm ivory), a sustainable resource and almost indistinguishable from the real thing. This custom sideboard is a companion piece for the conference table I built for Highland Center for the Arts.

Traditional Hepplewhite Chest of Drawers
My client and I worked from a rendering she had to create this lovely chest of drawers. Using design elements and materials faithful to the period, the resulting piece is something very close to what may have been produced in the 18th century.

“Custom Acoustic” Standing Cabinet
Custom Acoustic was conceived as a tribute to guitar as “objet d’art”. The materials used in the construction were those that may have well found their way into the my fantasy instrument; a lovely pommele sapele, highly figured maple, solid mahogany and even some abalone shell detailing.The curves running between the doors are evocative of those in the body of a guitar. And, of course, the sound hole. The interior is set up conceivably as a dry bar (musicians!), with two half depth adjustable shelves and a shallow drawer for storage of accessories.

Sculptural Chest of Drawers
Architect/artist David Woolf designed this piece for a client in Manhattan. I worked closely with him while producing the unique (and technically challenging!) carvings on this cabinet. The project provided a nice opportunity to step a little out of bounds.
